PLASTER CASTING WORKSHOPS
FOR THE CHAPEL STREET WALKING ROUTE PUBLIC ART SCHEME
Salford City Council in partnership with the Chapel Street Regeneration Team have commissioned myself, artist Tom Pearman to work on a public art scheme in the area.

A Walking Route, Trinity Link, has been identified and developed over the last few years from Manchester City Centre, through Trinity and finishing over the River Irwell at the University. The original aims were to create a safe pedestrian route for residents, as well as encouraging improved health and access to the areas.

My role as the project's artist is concerned with the signage and visibility of the route.

I am writing to invite you to become involved in the creative process of the project.

With my experience as a professional public artist I will be carrying out casting workshops under the themes of Japanese "Manga" graphic cartoons using found everyday objects.

This is an enjoyable yet simple way of making plaster of paris, flat relief casts of objects into pieces of art that will contribute to the CHAPEL STREET WALKING ROUTE PUBLIC ART SCHEME.

The casts made in these sessions will also be added to the project's website which is: www.tompearman.co.uk/salford

It maybe that you have a pair of old football boots that you would like cast, an old vinyl record, or some other object that in some way identifies you. I will also bring a selection of objects to cast.

The sessions will last approximately 2 hours and they will be carried out at the Angel Centre, St Philip's Place, off Chapel Street. DATES TO BE CONFIRMED
