Young people of Barry at Area 41 Youth Club

Film Maker Gennie Rose and Ian Buzzard from VIBE EXPERIENCE collaborated with Tom Pearman for a series of interactive sessions with local youngsters. Utilizing some great technical know-how and equipment, various aspects of stop-frame animation were explored. This including physical animation of one’s self and an investigation into the extensive influence of stop-frame animation in arts, cinema and media culture.

Using Barry as a backdrop the youngsters enveloped themselves in the creation of a series of stop frame scenes, using a narrative of ‘Monsters Invading Barry!’.

The aims of the sessions were to see how we may react to our local environment when a completely foreign element is introduced, in this case monsters! Does our local area become a cinematic backdrop for our own imagination?
