Central Bedfordshire Council is commissioning Tom Pearman as the artist to undertake a public art commission as part of a new Community Hall in Stotfold, Bedfordshire as part of the Section 106 commitment to a new housing development.

The aim of this commission is to provide an exciting and complementary work of public art for the external elevation  of Stotfold Community Hall.

The artwork will be located on the windows and adjacent rendered areas on the north, south and west facing elevations of the building.
The project is in its early stages and as the scheme develops so will these pages.
MORE INFORMATION:

Central Bedfordshire Council recognises the important benefits that can be achieved from introducing creativity into built environments.

This awareness concerning the growing importance of public art has resulted in Central Bedfordshire Council making a firm commitment to introduce and enforce planning conditions which allow for provision for the inclusion of art within major capital developments.

The windows currently allow passers-by to see into the building and the artist should consider how the artwork could offer privacy to those using the hall while still allowing natural light into the building.

The Developers have stated a preference for the proposed artwork to be applied to the glazing and fixed to the render post completion of the building therefore artists should only consider post installation techniques when putting forward their proposals.
