Introduction and theme
Wave Generators – There are four main waveforms and they are fundamental to creating sounds (synthesizing). These four waves are: Sine waves, Square waves, Sawtooth waves, and Triangle waves. A waveform is a shape that repeats itself and these repeating shapes and values are determined by a wave’s attributes. These attributes include: wavelength, frequency, period, and amplitude. Together they allow us to hear different sounds with different pitches, harmonics, and timbres.
The design of the Bandstand will be a visual and audio showcase of these waveforms and a series of sound recordings based upon various aspects of the local environment and community: Play, Nature and Geology.
Through a linked project specific website, the audience will be able to access a collection of sound artworks collated during a community engagement strategy.
The development of key aspects of the bandstand’s design during the engagement phase will allow for a direct contribution to its design. In short, the design of the bandstand will reflect its purpose as a place to present community based performance, music and art.

The bandstand designs are under development and will be determined by their location and potential requirement for a panoramic viewpoint or more similar to a stage. More new to follow.

It was brilliant to undertake a creative workshop with The Chiltern School in Houghton Regis.
Mark Bodsworth / teacher: “On the 11th November 2022, Tom Pearman visited the Chiltern School. Tom explained to a group of 20 mixed ability students about his art project in the local area. The activities Tom had prepared were engaging, hands on and interesting to the students. Tom and his team were very understanding of our pupils needs and were able to communicate with them effectively. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the session and came up with some amazing results. We hope to welcome Tom back to the Chiltern School soon. Thanks Mark. “
